Mild Flavor Non-Fishy Fish

by Nadia F.

I am writing to ask about non-fishy fish. As a child I was sickened by the smell of fish, then we moved to a tropical country where I ate the fish with no problem, then back in Canada I become very sick from smelling the fish and nauseated if I eat even a small piece of fishy fish.

I can stand some seafood (shrimp if not smelly). I've recently discovered that I can handle Mahi Mahi with no problem and really enjoy it. Searching for information I now know that it is a tropical fish and considered mild in flavor and low in fat.

Could you suggest other similar fish that I could find in North-America (Canada)that would be mild in flavor and not 'fishy'?
Many thanks,

Hi Nadia

Here are my suggestions for other mild fish. But what could be mild for me, may not be mild enough for you.

It may be that you like warm water fish better than colder water fish.

For warmer water fish try Red Snapper, Grouper, Sole, Flounder, Redfish or Tilapia.

For cold water fish try Halibut.

I hope this helps you. Let me know if you find any fish that you can eat.
