Easy Oven Fried Catfish

This oven fried catfish recipe is super easy to do.

Here's is what you will need
  • Cookie sheet
  • Aluminum foil
  • Spray oil coating
  • Gallon size baggies
  • Seasoned Flour

Rinse your catfish under cold water let drain for a minute or two, have your seasoned flour in a baggie, drop 2 fillets inside and shake well.

Tear you off a sheet of foil lay it on the counter and place you coated fillets on it, do this till all your catfish are coated for the first time. Now let them set a few minutes and you will see the coating kind of get a wet look to them and get sticky now repeat the coating process again. You will have a double coated fish but with a very light breading now.

Cover you cookie sheet with foil, spray oil the entire sheet. Place your catfish fillets on the sheet. Spray each fillet with oil. Place in a preheated 400 degree oven (Note: Cooking time will vary depending on your actual ovens heat and the thickness of the fillets. But a good rule of thumb would be about 10 minutes.)

After about 5 minutes spray the fillets once again with oil and turn the fish cook another 4 minutes. Turn the fish once again and turn on the broiler finish cooking a minute or two this will add some extra crispness to the fish.

You can use this same method for cooking whole catfish, usually a whole catfish will need to cook longer plus you will need to turn it half way through the baking time.

Another tip on cooking whole catfish is to make two diagonal cuts in the thickest part around the belly area this will help the catfish cook more evenly.
