What Is A Good Crab Substitute?

I have a recipe for crab and avocado but buying the amount of crab I need will cost a fortune.

Is there any fish I could use as a cheaper alternative?


Answer
Your best bet would be to use imitation crab.
You will find many brands of this and in many different styles, such as sticks, chunks and flakes.

Imitation crab is usually made out of Alaskan pollock with crab flavoring and other ingredients added.

Although not as tasty as real crab it is a good substitute for the budget minded.
